Julian Gruber

Julian Gruber graduated from St. Olaf College (Northfield, MN) with a BA in philosophy of creativity: expression, curation, and aesthetics, and has since found meaningful artistic expression within the medium of clay with its infinite potential for transformation. Through his functional work in ceramics, Gruber seeks to collaborate with this medium in a way that displays and emphasizes the tension between artist’s control and the natural behavior of material, and is interested in how this concept of tension mirrors the function of many other relationships in the world. During his time in the MN NICE program, Gruber eagerly anticipates deepening his knowledge of and expanding his research in material science, as well as intentionally engaging in the clay community at Northern Clay Center to support his growth during the program.
