Sculpting clay is my way of molding our earth to tell stories. My hands feel pleasure while shaping mud. I enjoy making curved volumes that intersect with sinuous edges. I invite you to feel the flow of these lines. Diversity in nature is an inspiration to me. Seeds are especially full of promise, beauty, and hope for the future. Gathering and planting tree seeds binds me with our natural world, and brings me joy. My art grows from such distinguished miracles as acorns and helicopter maple seeds. Diversity in my community is also inspiring. It is an honor to learn from the courage, resilience, and dreams of people who weren’t born to the privileges I thoughtlessly inherited. I am inspired by relationships that stretch me and teach me to think deeper. This piece speaks to the power of diversity to make our earth healthier.
