Mary Garvie began working with clay over six years ago through classes at Northern Clay Center, and has been smitten with wheel-thrown pottery ever since. At the end of 2021, she is planning to retire and transition to being a full-time potter after serving as the Bulk & Coffee Buyer at the Wedge Co-op for the last 20 years. Her interest lies in creating functional ware and she is inspired to explore her language of creativity through the challenge of redeeming off-centered pots. Garvie looks forward to further defining her voice in clay as she works to expand her technical knowledge and strengthen her creative independence within the context of community during her time in the program.
