I feel a sense of peaceful calm when I have clay in my hands. I often muse how wonderful it would be if that same calm could be felt by the person who chooses to bring a piece of my pottery into their home. My intention and humble hope is to be a maker of objects that become easily useful, in some way appreciated, and worthy of the space they take up in this world. My aesthetic leans toward minimalistic, unadorned, casual, and approachable. Line, form, visual and physical balance, gesture, and volume are the things I think most about during each step of the process. My work is functional, wheel thrown, and made from stoneware or a porcelain-stoneware blend. Each piece is carefully trimmed, glazed, then high fired in a reduction atmospheric kiln.
