Carla Arnevik

Carla Arnevik is a curiosity-driven ceramicist and multi-media maker from the Twin Cities. Through her wheel-thrown and handbuilt work, she explores vulnerability through contrasting textural forms with an undercurrent of decay. Her recent work employs methods that imbue vulnerability into functional forms by creating fissured surfaces that reference exposed roots and even wounds. Arnevik earned her BFA in fine art at the University of Minnesota Duluth, and most recently, has completed a diploma at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design (Fredericton, Canada) which specializes in training functional potters in ceramic materials and design concepts. Arnevik looks forward to exploring atmospheric firing techniques and incorporating more narrative into her work as she continues to unearth her voice in ceramics during the MN NICE program.
