Exploring the nature of identity, sense of place, nature, and cultural displacement, Jing Huang (Guilin, China) creates handbuilt ceramic sculptures with flowing and pooling glaze that responds to the topography of the form and the force of gravity. Creating ambiguous scenes that appreciate the past while also embracing the possibilities of the future, Huang’s work explores questions surrounding the nature of time, place, and meaning.
Jing has lectured, curated exhibitions, conducted workshops and exhibited extensively throughout the US, Canada, China and the UK. She holds a BA in Ceramic Art from Jingdezhen Ceramic institute in China, a Diploma in Crafts and Design from Sheridan College in Canada, and an MFA in Ceramic Art from Alfred University in New York.
