Accessibility at NCC

Clay for everyone!

Northern Clay Center is committed to providing accessible, inclusive opportunities for all our artists. We understand that maintaining accessibility isn’t just checking things off a list, but a dynamic effort that requires continuous attention and intention from our staff, artists, and community members. We understand that people are disabled by societal barriers, not their individual characteristics, and we are committed to removing those barriers.

What is NCC doing to make ceramic arts accessible to all?
  • We had an ADA representative conduct a building audit and are making the suggested changes to our space.
  • This includes adding hooks in the bathrooms, lowering the “lock” on a damp closet in each studio, de-cluttering spaces to ensure accessible clearance, and moving the toilet paper dispensers in the bathrooms.
  • We are bringing in qualified professionals to conduct training for staff and board members on various topics relating to accessibility and inclusion.
  • We are adding signage in the gallery offering assistance to those who want it.
  • We are creating more accessible digital content.
  • We are adding captioning to our video productions.
  • We are publishing print materials that assistive technology can access and translate with ease.
