Earth and Water 7: Ceramic Art in the St. Croix Valley

OCTOBER 30 – DECEMBER 6, 2015

Sarah Dudgeon
Opening Reception: Friday, November 14, 6:30 – 8:30 pm, with artist talk at 6 pm.

Northern Clay Center and The Phipps continue their multi-year partnership aimed at increasing the profile of ceramic artists located throughout the lower St. Croix River Valley watershed. This cross-state collaboration features two to three ceramic artists annually in the Atrium Gallery at The Phipps. In addition, featured artists presented an artist talk prior to each opening reception and a workshop or demonstration event.

Sarah Dudgeon is a potter based in Amery, Wisconsin, where she lives and works in an old and charming general store, built in 1911. She received her BA in Studio Arts from UW–La Crosse and apprenticed with Eckels Pottery in Bayfield, Wisconsin. She has taught classes and workshops throughout Minnesota and in North Carolina.  Her wood-fired pots can be found at various galleries in the region.  Dudgeon is “lured to forms that are aesthetically interesting and visually attractive”, and employs wood-firing to touch each of her pots with a unique mark.  Her pots are intended to be used and enjoyed.
