Joe Singewald grew up in the great state of Iowa where he discovered handmade pottery. He first studied ceramics at the University of Wisconsin–River Falls and received an MFA from Utah State University. Singewald’s utilitarian vessels have been in many exhibitions throughout the country, including the 2005 NCECA Clay National in Baltimore, Maryland; Strictly Functional Pottery National in Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and Utilitarian Clay—Celebrate the Object at Arrowmont School for Art and Craft in Tennessee. He currently works at St. John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota, and maintains his studio in Cold Spring. Singewald was a 2015 recipient of a Jerome Ceramic Artist Project Grant, facilitated by Northern Clay Center.
