Wendy Olson
Northern Clay Center and The Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson, Wisconsin, continued their multi-year exhibition partnership which aimed at increasing the profile of ceramic artists located throughout the lower St. Croix River Valley watershed. This cross-state collaboration featured two to three ceramic artists annually, in the Atrium Gallery at The Phipps. In addition, featured artists presented a public program (lecture/workshop/class) that took place at The Phipps. NCC invited its constituents to “cross the border” to visit these exhibits and join staff at the artist receptions.
Wendy Olson received her BFA in painting from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls and her MFA in ceramics from Kent State University in Ohio. She teaches ceramics full-time at Inver Hills Community College in Inver Grove Heights, MN. Her studio is located at her home in rural River Falls, Wisconsin, where she lives with her husband, potter Jay Jensen, and their two children.
Wendy decorates her work with figurative narratives using underglaze; she fires to cone 6 oxidation.
