Outreach Technician
Elsa (she/her) is a potter, printmaker, and interdisciplinary maker and lover of many things. She grew up playing in the dirt on a farm in rural southwest Minnesota. Though she first took a ceramics class in high school, she fell in love with ceramics in eastern Kentucky while producing pots through the Ceramic Apprenticeship Program at Berea College, where she earned her bachelor’s in Studio Art and Communication. During her time there, she developed a passion not just for pottery, but for product design and craft education and outreach. She has spent the years since then moving around, teaching classes and workshops, serving on the board for the fine arts council in her hometown, as studio manager for several award-winning arts-and-crafts studios, a children’s art teacher, an independent potter, a kiln technician, and, recently, as the Ceramics Fellow back at Berea College.
Material experimentation, play, and human connection are integral to her practice. If she is not in the studio (or digging mud out of the woods somewhere), you can find her on the hunt for a new favorite bite or a brew, biking, hiking, or hanging out with her people and her cat.
